Kazbegi Meteo Station Hiking Tour - 4 Days

Duration: 4 days. Best season: July-September

During this trekking you will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the 3rd highest peak of Georgia mount Kazbeg 5054 m from different angles, also the views of other mountain peaks and  gorges. Cross glaciers and rivers to reach  the meteorological  station, which was built in 1941, and it now serves as a base camp for those who come here to climb mount Kazbeg. 

During the tour, visit 14th century Holy trinity monastery of Gergeti  - an active monastery with is the unique architectural style.

Day 1. Tbilisi - 3 hours drive to Stepantsminda (We can do 8 km hike in Juta to Chaukhi lake or 3 km hike in Gveleti to the waterfall to prepare for the next day). Overnight in Stepantsminda

Day 2. Stepantsminda - 3 km hike to Holy Trinity Church of Gergeti after exploring the 14th century church 7 km hike to Sabertse camping located at 3000 m. Overnight in tents

Day 3. Sabertse camping - 5 km hike to the meteo station (3653 m) - from here we hike 1.5 km to Sameba shrine (3900 m) - hike downhill 6.5 km back to Sabertse. Overnight in tents

Day 4. Sabertse - 10 km hike back to Stepantsminda and drive back to Tbilisi.
